Results from turned Holly is a delight for wood turners, but it is quite a tricky wood. The problem seems to be the methods of drying Holly. If this is done too quickly the turned wood tends to split easy. This is a wood to share experiences with other woodturners.

Holly is hardly ever used in furniture making as it is hard to find wide enough cuts plus its proness to splitting could be irritating. Some folks sculpture designs with Holly and stick them onto furnishings.

Some people whittle small flutes and whistles from Holly wood.

Holly's greatest use is truly as evergreen decor in winter, especially inserted into wreaths and as decor dressing on foods such as on the tops of Christmas puddings and Christmas turkeys.
